During the Victorian period, Windsor and the Borough was subjected to regular flooding; the cause of severe weather and ineffective river management. This copy photograph of an original photograph taken at the time of the floods illustrates the devastation caused to Datchet Village in 1894. Within the confines of the picture you will note that three ladies (and their dresses) have been rescued from the flood water by a gentleman in a punt.
