Showing a lively scene with soldiers and tourists depicted. An engraving of Windsor Castle by Robert Sands, from a drawing by Thomas Allom, c.1820-37. Although Thomas Allom was famed for his topographical artworks, there is something of the narrative (genre) running through this particular painting. Indeed, the diminutive figures in the foreground play as large a role in the picture as the castle does itself. Note the merry meetings of the gentile classes and the look of sheer bewilderment on the rotund gentleman’s face in the bottom left hand corner; there appears to be a story lurking behind each individual group of people. See if you can try and decipher their stories from what you see.Measurements: 242 x 426
